This converter multiplies pounds by 0.45359237 to get kilograms, and divides by the same figure to go the other way. That number is not a rounded estimate. It is the legal definition of the international avoirdupois pound set in 1959, which is why the results here differ slightly from the familiar "divide by 2.2" shortcut once the weights get large.
