Strategy 1 (highest fidelity): The tool looks for an embedded preview.pdf file inside the ZIP archive. Many Pages documents, especially those created with iWork '09 and later, include a QuickLook preview PDF that closely represents the original formatting. If found, this PDF is extracted directly and offered for download without any re-rendering.
Strategy 2: If no preview PDF exists, the tool searches for embedded preview images (JPEG thumbnails) and uses jsPDF to create a PDF containing the image, sized and centered to fit the page. This provides a visual representation of the document's first page.
Strategy 3 (fallback): For older or simpler Pages files, the tool looks for XML/HTML content within the ZIP bundle, strips HTML tags while preserving paragraph structure, and generates a text-focused PDF using jsPDF with proper pagination. Note that newer Pages files use Apple's proprietary IWA (iWork Archive) binary format based on Protocol Buffers, which cannot be parsed by browser-based JavaScript.
