RTF to PDF Converter

This document converter transforms Rich Text Format (RTF) files into clean, paginated PDF documents entirely within the browser. RTF is a Microsoft-developed interchange format that encodes text with formatting instructions using backslash-prefixed control words (e.g., \par for paragraph, \b for bold, \u for Unicode characters).

The parser extracts text content by processing RTF control words through a multi-stage pipeline. First, binary data blocks (\pict), header tables (\fonttbl, \colortbl, \stylesheet), and metadata sections (\info, \header, \footer) are stripped. Then Unicode sequences (\uN) and hex-encoded characters (\'XX) are decoded to their native characters. Paragraph delimiters (\par, \line) are converted to line breaks, and special typography sequences (\lquote, \rdblquote, \bullet, \emdash) are mapped to their Unicode equivalents. Finally, remaining control words and braces are removed, leaving clean text paragraphs.

The extracted paragraphs are rendered into a properly formatted PDF using the jsPDF library with A4 page dimensions (210×297mm), 20mm margins on all sides, and 11pt Helvetica font. Text lines are automatically wrapped at the available width, and new pages are added when content exceeds the bottom margin. Paragraph spacing of 4mm provides clear visual separation between text blocks.
