By default, YouTube skips 10 seconds when you double-tap on videos on your smartphone. This tutorial teaches you how to change the YouTube double-tap skip time.

Following the steps in this tutorial, you can change the skip time on the YouTube mobile app to 5, 15, 30, or 60 seconds.

How to Change YouTube Double-Tap Skip Time

The official YouTube app lets you skip through videos by double-tapping on the left or right part of the player. To skip forward, double-tap on the right part of the video. To skip backward, double-tap on the video’s left part.

Select the Skip forward and back option on this app screen below.

For example, if you want to skip 30 seconds after double-tapping on any YouTube video, tap on the 30-second button, as shown below.

After choosing the updated time, you can start viewing any YouTube video. If you double-tap to skip forward or backward, YouTube will use the updated time, as shown below.
