USPS Shipping Calculator
Estimate US Post Office postage from the weight, box size, and two ZIP codes. Compare Ground Advantage, Priority Mail, Priority Mail Express, Media Mail, and every Flat Rate box in one view.
Your estimate will appear here
Enter both ZIP codes and the weight, then press the button to compare services.
Know the postage before you pack the box
Shipping cost is easy to get wrong. A box that weighs almost nothing can still cost a lot because of its size, and a Flat Rate box can beat weight-based pricing on the same parcel. Enter the route and the weight to see every option side by side, along with the zone and billable weight the price is built from.
Why use this USPS shipping calculator?
Zone worked out for you
Enter two ZIP codes and the tool finds the distance and the zone, which is the number that moves the price more than anything else.
Dimensional weight checked
Add the box measurements and the tool flags when volume costs more than weight, so a large light parcel does not surprise you at the counter.
Flat Rate compared properly
Every Flat Rate envelope and box appears with its price and inside dimensions, plus a check on whether your item actually fits.
No account, no tracking
Everything runs in your browser. Addresses are never entered, no ZIP code is stored, and nothing is sent to a server.
How this USPS Shipping Calculator works
This calculator rebuilds the way USPS prices a domestic parcel. It starts with the two ZIP codes. Each one maps to an approximate location, and the great-circle distance between them falls into one of eight zone bands: under 50 miles is Zone 1, 51 to 150 miles is Zone 2, and so on up to Zone 8 for anything past 1,800 miles. Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the Pacific territories always price at the top zone.
Next it works out what USPS will actually bill you for. If you enter the box measurements and the box holds more than one cubic foot, the tool divides length by width by height by 166 to get the dimensional weight, then bills whichever is higher, that figure or the scale weight. Anything over a pound rounds up to the next whole pound, which matches how the Postal Service charges. It also checks the 70-pound, 108-inch length, and 130-inch length-plus-girth limits, and stops with a clear message if the parcel breaks any of them.
The price for each service comes from published 2026 retail rate bands. The calculator interpolates between anchor weights and applies the zone multiplier for that service, then rounds to the nearest nickel. Flat Rate options run alongside, priced the same regardless of weight or zone, with a check on whether your box actually fits inside each one.
Treat the output as a planning estimate. Buying a label online costs less than the retail counter prices modelled here.
How to use this USPS Shipping Calculator
Enter both ZIP codes
The distance between the sending and receiving ZIP codes decides the shipping zone, which is the biggest single factor in the price.
Add weight and box size
Put in pounds and ounces. Adding the box measurements checks dimensional weight and flags which Flat Rate boxes your item fits.
Compare the services
Ground Advantage, Priority Mail, Priority Mail Express, Media Mail, and every Flat Rate option appear side by side with delivery windows.
