How to Read Your Touch Test Results

  • A cell never fills: clean the screen, remove any screen protector, and retry. If the same spot stays empty, that part of the digitizer is likely damaged.
  • Lines break or jump: occasional small jitter is normal. Repeated gaps in the same area, or strokes that leap across the screen, point to a failing digitizer or a loose display cable.
  • Fewer touch points than expected: most phones track 5 to 10 fingers and most tablets track 10. A lower count can be a hardware limit rather than a fault, so compare against your device's specifications first.
  • Markers appear on their own: ghost touches are commonly caused by moisture, a damaged protector, a worn charging cable, or a faulty digitizer. Dry and clean the screen, unplug the charger, and test again.
