How this RSS Viewer works

This RSS/Atom feed viewer parses XML-based syndication formats and displays feed content in a clean, readable card layout. The parser supports both RSS 2.0 and Atom 1.0 specifications, extracting common elements like title, link, description, publication date, and author information from feed items.

Users can enter a feed URL to fetch content through a CORS proxy, or paste raw XML content directly for immediate parsing. The viewer handles namespace declarations, CDATA sections, and encoded HTML content that commonly appears in feed descriptions. Each feed item displays as a card with clickable title links, formatted dates, and truncated descriptions that expand on demand.

The tool includes a database of sample RSS feeds for testing, covering categories like technology news, entertainment, sports, and podcasts. This makes it easy to explore how different feeds are structured without hunting for URLs. All parsing occurs client-side after fetching, ensuring no feed content is stored or logged on external servers.

Frequently Asked Questions

What feed formats are supported?
The viewer supports both RSS 2.0 and Atom 1.0 formats. It automatically detects the format and parses accordingly.
Why does fetching some URLs fail?
Some websites block cross-origin requests. If a URL fails, try copying the RSS XML content and pasting it directly in the XML input mode.
How many items are displayed?
Up to 50 items from the feed are displayed, sorted by their order in the source XML (usually most recent first).
Is my data secure?
Yes. All parsing happens locally in your browser when using XML mode. URL fetching uses a CORS proxy but the content is processed client-side.
Can I save or export the feed?
Currently you can click on individual article links to read them. Export functionality may be added in future updates.
