How this Random Oregon Address Generator works

Every address here starts from a real Oregon place. The city list covers twelve of the state's larger population centres, from Portland and Gresham in the north down to Medford in the Rogue Valley, and each city carries the ZIP codes that USPS actually assigns to it. Pick Portland and you get a 972xx code. Pick Bend and you get 977xx. The street names are real as well, from Hawthorne and Burnside to Coburg Road, Wall Street, and Crater Lake Avenue, and Portland addresses keep the N, NE, SE, SW, and NW quadrant letters that the city grid runs on.

The house number is the part left to chance, so no line points at a home where somebody lives. The generator draws a number, then attaches the street, the city, the county, the two-letter code OR, and one ZIP code from that city's own list.

Phone numbers work the same way. The area code follows the region, with 503 and 971 across the northwest and 541 and 458 through the rest of the state, while the exchange stays fixed at 555-01xx, the block set aside for fiction. That number can never ring a stranger.

Are these real Oregon addresses?
The city, county, street, and ZIP code are real. The house number is not. That combination gives you something that passes an address format check without ever pointing at a house where somebody actually lives.
Which Oregon cities does the generator cover?

What do the NE, SE, SW, and NW letters in Portland addresses mean?
Portland is split into quadrants around Burnside Street and the Willamette River, and the letters tell you which one a street sits in. SE Hawthorne Blvd and NE Alberta St are different roads in different parts of the city, so the prefix is part of the address rather than decoration. The generator keeps it because address parsers often need to handle it.
