The conversion preserves the full original image resolution and color depth. PNG is a lossless format that uses DEFLATE compression — this means every pixel from the original HEIC is faithfully preserved in the PNG output, though the file size will typically be larger than the original HEIC since PNG compression is less efficient than HEVC.
